At Northern Nevada Medical Center's new vitreoretinal surgery center, the physicians of Nevada Retina Associates -- Dr. Hardeep Dhindsa, Dr. Jarl Nielsen, Dr. Steven Friedlander and Dr. John Gunn ( pictured above) -- perform some of the most advanced repair techniques available.

"The retina contains millions of photoreceptors that capture light rays and convert them into electrical impulses," said Dr. Jarl Nielsen, founder of Nevada Retina Associates. "These impulses travel along the optic nerve to the brain, where they are turned into images."

Diagnosis of coronary artery disease:
What to expect

A coronary artery disease (CAD) diagnosis may seem overwhelming, but patients can achieve positive outcomes.

Senior suicide is rarely without warning

Nevada has one of the highest suicide rates for older adults in the U.S. Nearly 36 of every 100,000 senior citizens in the state commit suicide each year, twice the national average.
