This issue is dedicated to the memory of Mayor Tony Armstrong, community leader and 15-year member of Northern Nevada Medical Center's Board of Governors. Mayor Armstrong was a tireless supporter of the hospital and its mission.

"Tony Armstrong was a man of the highest ethics who loved Sparks and all of its citizens," said Don Johnston, Board chair.

Tony believed in "giving 110 percent" and demonstrated the philosophy by distributing "110%" pins to city and hospital staff. Asked during a 2003 newspaper interview to explain his belief, he said, "Because people depend on you. You've got to have heart. You've got to give it everything you can. You've got to give it your life."

"Northern Nevada Medical Center will forever be indebted to Tony Armstrong for his many contributions on behalf of community healthcare," said Meg Cleary, hospital CEO.

Tony Armstrong will continue to inspire all of us at Northern Nevada Medical Center to give 110 percent to our patients and families.
