These monthly meetings focus on educational support for those with lung disease. Speakers address living with the disease and available treatment options. This free series is open to all and is sponsored by Sierra Pulmonary and Sleep Consultants and the American Lung Association of Nevada. Light refreshments are served. AARP DRIVER SAFETY PROGRAM

Geared to the safety needs of people 50 or better, this classroom driving course focuses on today's driving challenges including compensating for changes in vision, hearing and reaction time; assessing one's own and others' abilities via a Personal Driving Capability Index; and handling problem situations. MAMMOGRAPHY AND OSTEOPOROSIS SPECIALS

Take time this month to take care of your health needs and help reduce your long-term health risks! In recognition of Mother's Day and National Osteoporosis Awareness Month, Northern Nevada Medical Center is giving a pink calculator as a special gift to every woman who has a mammogram or bone density scan during May. In addition, the Diagnostic Breast Care Center is offering a screening mammography rate of $90 (regularly $145).* To schedule a mammogram, please call 356-5800; for a bone density appointment, please call 356-1212. For information on a program providing mammograms for qualified uninsured and underinsured women, please call 1-888-463-8942 and ask for the Women's Health Connection.

*Special rate includes all mammography and reading fees and is for procedures self-paid at the time of service. Screening mammograms are for those without implants or previously detected disease. Diagnostic mammograms also are available; please call for more information.

FLASHES presents Dr. Keith Brown, gynecologist with University Health System. He will discuss ways to prevent osteoporosis, including early detection of bone mass loss as well as treatments to build bone mass.
