The road to wellness begins in January with the area's premier healthcare education event. Renew, refresh, recharge and rethink your ideas about living long and well with seminars and interactive
demonstrations. Complementary medicine, women's wellness and stress reduction are among the topics covered at this community event sponsored by Northern Nevada Medical Center, Truckee Meadows Community College, News 4 KRNV-TV, Reno Gazette-Journal and John Ascuaga's Nugget. The seminar format allows participants to choose from presentations by experts in traditional and herbal medicine, fitness, stress reduction and personal growth, and participate in free and low-cost health screenings.

Keynote presentations include:
Karen Cuninghame, RN, health anchor, KRNV-TV, presents "Health news from the frontlines," using her daily experience in covering breaking medical news and motivating people to overcome challenges and improve their health in the "Get Fit with 4" series.
Jennifer Webb, internationally recognized motivational speaker, trainer and author of Monster Lies: Stop Them Before They Stop You, and The FIDO Philosophy presents "The FIDO philosophy," a template for letting go of what stops us from achieving our vision, and a practical, step-by-step plan to excel personally and professionally.
Jane Boucher, inspirational educator and best-selling author, will explore "The body-mind connection." Jane will help you understand your stress quotient and how it affects your health. You will learn how to use stress to your advantage and to develop strategies for taking charge of your life as well as how self-acceptance facilitates healing.

Health and wellness screenings include: nutritional analysis, body fat, blood pressure, memory screening, bone density heel scans ($10; regularly $35), cholesterol ($15) and chemistry panel ($20, including cholesterol screening). Then, relax with a shoulder massage!
Continental breakfast, lunch and all activities except screenings noted are included in registration fee of $40 by Jan. 15; $50 after Jan. 15. Comfortable shoes and clothing suggested; 12-hour fast required for best results in cholesterol screenings.
